Sharon May Kessler was born in Salem, West Virginia, on November 16, 1942 to Frank Propst and Dorothy Alma (Cutright) Propst. Sharon passed away on July 1st, 2024 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas due to complications while fighting lung cancer.

She graduated from North High, Wichita, Kansas in 1960. She went on to marry Richard James Mellott of Peabody, Kansas on June 11th, 1961. They were blessed with two children, Connie (Dutton) Mellott (Bill Dutton), Peabody and Rick Mellott (Kara Mellott) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three grandchildren; Anda Entz (Danny Entz), Eric Dutton (Clarissa Dutton) and Chance Mellott. Four Great-grandchildren Benton and Case Entz, Alexa and Thomas Dutton.

Sharon later married Calvin E. Kessler on April 19, 1986. She is survived by her brother Larry Baker of Eldorado as well as several recent additions to the family. She was preceded in death by her husband Cal, mother Dorothy and three sisters Susie, Verna and Karen.

She enjoyed working a variety of jobs throughout her career, she was able to retire from the Peabody Senior Center as the head cook after 20 years of service. She adored spending time with friends and family talking, but especially when it involved playing cards or other games.

Sharon will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the angels in disguise, including the family, friends and neighbors who were there with all their love and support for her and her family always.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date with the family.

Memorial donations can be made out to the Peabody Avenue of Flags or Peabody American Legion Auxiliary and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral Home.
