SHARON KOEHN Obituary

SHARON (ORPIN) KOEHN Sharon (Orpin) Koehn of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 at her residence. She was battling cancer that came back after almost a year. She was born on November 27, 1957 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth Orpin. Sharon attended Golden Plains Grade School and later graduated from Hesston High School. She was baptized on her confession of faith and a member of Whitestone Mennonite Church. On September 27, 1986, she married Leroy Koehn of Moundridge. Her love for cooking and baking started at a young age with five brothers at home who were always willing to sample her creations. Her jobs included restaurants, retirement homes and the Moundridge Food Deli. In her spare time, Sharon enjoyed searching through recipes and cookbooks to find many new dishes. She assembled and published her own cookbook of favorite dishes from family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Leroy; four of her brothers and wives, Gary (wife Jan), Dana (wife Denise), Roger (wife Donna), and Mike (wife Judy); sister-in-law, Debbie; and many nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Charles. Cremation is planned. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Moundridge Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 22 at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Whitestone Mennonite Church in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, PO Box 410, Moundridge, KS 67107.
