Sharon K. Leato, 77, of Wheatfield, Indiana, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on November 19, 2025.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Gerald R. Leato, Sr. until his passing in 2022. She was a loving mother to her children, Connie (Tom) Blevins, Jerry Jr., Gino (Noreen), Eddie (June) and Cheryl (Vince) Dellamorte and loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Casey, Amanda, Jerry, Nina, Abbie, Felicia, David, Leann, Gino, Jessica, Kristen, Ashley and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Edward (Eileen) and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Rozella; her parents, Edward, and Margaret; her grandson Tommy; and her brother Michael.
She worked as a waitress most of her life before retiring. She loved to cook, bake, and dance. She was a loving pet owner to many dogs, cats, a bird, and even a bunny. She liked to talk about astrology and her spiritual rituals of candle lighting and carrying crystals (“whammies”). She loved to decorate for Christmas and make big Christmas dinners. She also enjoyed hosting get-togethers over Memorial Day weekend where everyone was welcome.
She will be remembered for her extraordinary energy, kindness, positive attitude, and playful sense of humor. She will be missed by all who know her. We love and miss you so much, mom!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PAWS, a no-kill shelter in Chicago, to honor Sharon's love of animals.
