Eva Irene Hare

Eva Irene (Gillespie) Hare left this world on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. She was born on November 17, 1922, in Watseka, Illinois, to Clyde and Elizabeth (Ginrich) Gillespie, and lived a long and full life, reaching 103 years of age.

On January 14, 1942, Eva married Erwin “Duke” Hare, and they spent nearly 60 years working and living alongside one another until his death. Together, they built a life rooted in partnership, strength, and love, and welcomed four children.

Eva is survived by her children, Sherri (William) Tolle, of Nebraska, Sandra Stenz, of Lafayette, and Mark (Debra) Hare, of Illinois; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the legacy of her long life and steady presence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duke; son, David; both parents; five sisters; and one brother.

A visitation for Eva will be held at Gerts, Windler & Keller Funeral Home ~ Fowler Chapel on Friday, February 27, from 9:30-10:30 AM (ET). The funeral service, led by Mr. Rick Gerts, will begin at 10:30 AM, with burial at Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland to follow.
