Donald Muller Obituary

Donald D "Donnie Dozer" Muller, 79, of Waveland, Indiana, passed away on January 1, 2026. Born on October 30, 1946, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late George and Mable (Windler) Muller.

He was a 1964 graduate of Fowler High School and received his MS from the School of Hard Knocks.  He was a member of the American Legion, 40/8, VFW, and AmVets. Don married Marie (Strasburger) Muller on April 8, 1967; they later divorced.

Don served in the Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968 and did a tour in Vietnam. He worked many years as a heavy equipment operator through the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103, then transferred and retired from Local 841.

He spent his retirement days in rural Waveland on his ten-acre ranch along with his dog Rufus, fixing driveways and doing small land improvements for his neighbors and the townsfolk of Waveland. Don and Rufus enjoyed watching reruns of Gunsmoke.

He is survived by his children, Tod Muller and Tanya (Heath) Burton, both of Earl Park. Also surviving are his siblings, Diann (Dave) Murfitt, Dan Muller, and Dean Muller; along with many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dick Muller, Duane Muller, and Dale Muller; and his sister Debra (Muller) McKinley.

A visitation will be held from 10A - 12P (EST) on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Gerts, Winder & Keller Funeral Home of Fowler. The family has requested that attendees wear casual attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to Fowler 40/8 Nursing Scholarship Fund, c/o Jim Hardebeck, 1619 W 100 S, Fowler IN 47944.
