Sharon Magee, 67, of
Jefferson, IA, passed away peacefully at Mary Greeley Hospice Center in Ames, IA, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Sharon was born in Frenchcamp, CA, on May 2, 1957, the daughter of Dillard and Eleanor Carnahan, and the sister of Marlene and Mike. She was later adopted by Leila Gardiner, who married Dale Gardiner, and Sharon became the sister of Timothy. She was raised in Washington.
After graduation, Sharon attended beauty school and later met her love, Brett Magee, whom she married in 1988. They loved doing ministry together by providing food to people in need on the streets of Seattle. Sharon was a mother to three children: Craig, Chad, and Chelsea. Sharon dedicated her life fully to Jesus and loved to say, "Just so you know, I love Jesus first before everyone else." She was deeply devoted to Jesus, her family, and her close friends, often going beyond her own means to love those around her.
Some of Sharon's favorite things included spending time with her sister Marlene and her sister/best friend, Brenda. Her ladies' trips with Brenda always showed what kindered spirits they were. Chatting on the phone with her lifelong friend Jolene always brought so much joy to Sharon. She adored her grandchildren and was a fierce prayer warrior for them throughout her life. She enjoyed the little moments and special times with close loved ones, especially with her grandkids-going out for ice cream, having tea parties in the sunroom, and just watching them grow. She loved finding little knick-knacks at thrift stores and always looked forward to her trips to the ocean.
Quiet time with the Lord was something Sharon did every morning with her husband, Brett. One of her greatest fulfillments was sharing the love of Jesus with others and simply sitting and listening to everyone's stories, which she always thought of as little treasures. Some of the ways she showed her love for others included hosting an Orphan and Widows Prayer Group (which lasted for over 10 years), as well as her career as a caregiver and advocate for mental health. Sharon loved "God moments"-she would say that when life got hard, she would pray, and then an eagle would fly over her. She would call these her "little God Moments," her special reminders from God.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Brett Magee, of
Jefferson, IA; her parents, Leila and Dale Gardiner of Guthrie Center, IA; her sons, Craig Hart of
Jefferson, IA, and Chad (Tasha) Magee of Urbandale, IA; her daughter, Chelsea (Wes) Alvey of Portland, OR; grandchildren: Terence, Ti-Rone, Trinity, Toryan, Zepplyn, Cash, Dasani, and Leanna; siblings: brother Timothy (Debrah) Taylor of Illinois; sister Brenda Davidson of Scranton, IA; and several nieces and nephews, along with other relatives.
Sharon was preceded in death by her biological parents, Dillard and Eleanor Carnahan; her brother, Mike Carnahan; and her sister, Marlene Murphy.
