Dracut – Sharon E. (Cunningham) Makos, age 77, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at Tufts Medical Center on Thursday, November 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis G. "Frank" Makos, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
She was born in Everett on May 6, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Marguerite (Gibbons) Cunningham.
Sharon was raised and educated in Billerica. She dedicated 37 years to BAE Systems as a civilian contractor, serving as an Assistant Engineer for the U.S. Navy. Throughout her career, she worked on LHD's and DDG's at numerous Navy bases across the United States and the United Kingdom. Sharon was often sought out for her exceptional expertise, and she took great pride in the work she loved.
An avid and talented quilter, Sharon was a longtime member of both the Chelmsford Quilt Guild and the Hannah Dustin Quilt Guild. She found joy in sharing her quilting knowledge and creativity with others.
Sharon also cherished her time at the Collinsville Bible Church, where she felt deeply connected to her church family and remained involved up until her final days. At home, her greatest pleasure was creating beauty, tending to her garden and making her home a warm and welcoming place. She also enjoyed traveling, with Key West holding a special place in her heart.
Sharon is survived by her children, Francis G. Makos, Jr. and his wife Debra A. (Brucato) Makos of Tyngsboro, and Kelly R. Makos of Dracut; her grandchildren, Nicolas F. Makos and longtime partner Marissa Cassidy, both of Londonderry, NH, and Alexander G. Makos of Tyngsboro. She was blessed with two great grandchildren, Benjamin James and Dylan Francis Makos of Londonderry: sisters, Lois Meekins of Macintosh, NM and Elise Zamora of Estancia, NM, a brother, Alan Cunningham of Hendersonville, NC. She was predeceased by her sister Brenda Wilson of Amesbury.
Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 9 am to 11 am at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut followed by a graveside service at the Tyngsborough Memorial Cemetery at 11:30 am.

Kelly and family,

I will never forget Sharon`s generosity to the Chelmsford Quilt Guild and all the hard work she did along with you Kelly at quite a few of the Quilt shows.

May all the wonderful memories you have of your mom, grandmother and or great grandmother help you and the difficult days ahead.
