Francis G. Makos, 77, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at Fairhaven Healthcare Center, Lowell, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sharon E. (Cunningham) Makos with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
He was born in Lowell on July 7, 1947, and was the son of the late George and Mary (Grenda) Makos.
Frank was raised in the Lakeview (Mascuppic) area of Dracut and was a graduate of Dracut High School with the Class of 1965. He worked as a stone cutter at Fletcher Granite quarry for 42 years. After his retirement, Frank enjoyed going to classic car shows but mostly liked to simply spend time with his family, especially going to sporting events to watch his grandsons play baseball, football, and basketball!
In addition to his loving wife, Frank leaves his children, Francis G. Makos, Jr. and his wife Debra A. (Brucato) Makos of Tyngsboro, and Kelly R. Makos of Dracut. Frank also leaves behind his grandchildren, Nicolas F. Makos and longtime partner Marissa Cassidy, both of Nashua NH, and Alexander G. Makos of Tyngsboro. He was blessed with one great grandson Benjamin J. Makos of Nashua. Frank was the brother of Regina Sage of Nashua NH. He is also survived by many other family members and dear friends.
Sadly, he was predeceased by his sister Judith (Makos) Ouellette of Lowell and Lorraine A. Makos of Pelham NH, and his cousin Edmond P. Dupuis of Dracut, with whom he was dear friends until his passing in Jan '23.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 9 – 11 am at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, followed by a graveside service at Tyngsborough Memorial Cemetery at 11:30 am. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
