Sharon Marks, 86, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 after a long, heroic battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born on January 11, 1939, to the late Max and Etabel (nee Winslow) Switzky. Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Allan Marks and her beloved sister, Frances Hoff (nee Switzky). Sharon was a bright light of love, hope, and optimism for all who knew and loved her as well as those who met her only briefly. In addition to her family and friends, this included those she worked with through her teaching career starting with elementary students teaching science before she became a mother and ending with adults after her kids were grown teaching GED and literacy classes as well as a class on how to start a small business. She fought tirelessly for social justice, and was a proud member of the Panel of American Women whose mission it was to break down barriers of prejudice and discrimination between people through meaningful dialogue and human connection. She instilled these values in her children and grandchildren, and continued to challenge people's perspectives throughout her life in big and small ways. She will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched. Sharon is survived by her loving children, Maureen (Karl Stukenberg) Marks, Matthew (Kate Niles) Marks, and Aaron (Michelle) Marks; her adored grandchildren, Mara and Erica Cash, John Stukenberg, Peter and Maisy Niles Marks, and Joshua and Leah Marks; and her much beloved nieces and nephews, the late Maxine (Andy) Kaufman, Julie (Bill) Windhorst, David (Heidi) Hoff, Marc (Lana) Feldman, and Howard Feldman. The family is grateful beyond measure for the care Sharon received at the Beechwood Home in Cincinnati. Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 29 at 1PM at Congregation Beth Adam (10000 Loveland-Madeira Rd. Loveland, OH 45140) where guests will be received from 12PM until time of service. Burial will follow immediately at Spring Grove Cemetery (4521 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45232). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Beechwood or to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
