Sharon Ann Metz Watson Pifer, 79, a resident of Parsons, passed for this life on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her home. She was under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Sharon was born on Saturday, November 24, 1945, in Parsons, a daughter of the late Artie Carl Metz and Okie Cordle Metz. She was twice married. First, to Grover A. Watson and later to Dale A. Pifer, both of whom preceded her in death.
Left to cherish Sharon's memory are three children, Becky Boyce of Grafton, Paula Lowther and husband, Donnie, of Hendricks, Tracy Ludwig and companion, Kurt, of Gastonia, NC, a special son, Thomas Bruce Summerfield, Jr. of Parsons, four stepchildren, Arvita D. Maxson and husband, Robin of Parsons, Melissa Isner of Parsons, Sandy Butcher and husband, Donnie, of Shaversfork, Grace Snyder and husband, Scooter, of Parsons, five grandchildren, Heather, John, Hunter, Wyatt and Robbie, 7 great grandchildren, Colin, Ashley, Morgan, Rylan, Hudson, Nolan and Wyatt, two great great grandchildren, Madison and Maverick, a sister, Judy Stone, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Sharon in death besides her parents and husband, was five sisters, Mary Sampson, Geneva Sullivan, Mae Metz, Glenda Gibbs, and Rose Gidley, three brothers, Carl James "Bean" Metz, Kenneth N. Metz, and Eugene Metz, a son-in-law, Elbert Boyce, two grandchildren, CJ and DJ Joseph.
Sharon was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1963. She was employed with the Cortland Acres Nursing Home in housekeeping for thirty years. Sharon was very dedicated to her job. She enjoyed gardening, scary movies, mysteries, and sitting and talking to the nursing home residents.
Sharon was affiliated with the Hendricks Free Methodist Church.
Sharon's request for cremation will be honored, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
