Sharon Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Direct Cremation of Maine - Belfast on Dec. 30, 2025.
Sharon Lynn Mitchell, 70, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of boundless love, resilience, and joy. Born in Delaware on July 29, 1955, Sharon eventually made her home in Unity, Maine, where she became a cornerstone of the community and a "second mom" to many.

Sharon was often described as a light in the darkness. She possessed a rare, infectious joy that she shared freely with everyone she encountered. Whether it was a lifelong friend or a stranger in need, Sharon greeted the world with a smile and a heart that knew no limits. She was a woman of immense kindness who would consistently go out of her way to support others, often putting their needs far above her own.

For her children, Sharon was more than a mother; she was a hero. Raising her children as a single parent, she seamlessly filled the roles of both mother and father, providing a foundation of unwavering support. She was her children's fiercest protector and their loudest cheerleader, pouring her entire heart and soul into ensuring they had every opportunity to thrive. Despite the challenges of working a physically demanding job for many years, Sharon never let her struggles show. Her strength was quiet but unshakable, and her ability to fix anything-from a broken appliance to a heavy heart-was unmatched.

Sharon found her greatest happiness in her family and her community. She was a master of making the holidays magical, especially Christmas and Halloween, where her outgoing spirit truly shined. To her grandchildren, she was a source of endless love and fun. To all her friends and her "Coffee Gang," she was a daily fixture of friendship and conversation, meeting every day to share stories and laughter.

Sharon is survived by her son, Josh Mitchell and his spouse, Michele Scribner; her daughter, Shelby Seals and her husband, Tyler Seals; and her three cherished grandchildren, Addie, Nora, and Connor. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, with whom she is now joyfully reunited.

A celebration of Sharon's vibrant life will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at 1:00 PM at the Troy School, located at 733 Bangor Road, Troy, Maine. The family invites all who knew and loved her to come share their memories.
