Sharon L. Plotner, affectionately known as “Mom Nanny,” was born on July 25, 1945, in Lancaster, Ohio. She left this world peacefully on January 7, 2025, after a courageous nine-year battle with ovarian cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Sharon's early years were spent at Association of Ex Pupils Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphan's Home in Xenia, Ohio, a place that served as her school, home, and church, where she graduated and formed lasting memories.
She dedicated her career to the healthcare community, retiring as an administrative assistant from OSU Hospital. Throughout her life, Sharon was known for her independent spirit and caring nature. She had a remarkable ability to put others before herself, always placing family first. Her positive outlook on life and nurturing demeanor touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Sharon was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved to travel and explored the joys of sewing, creating everything from costumes to curtains—all without the aid of a pattern. Baking was another of her cherished hobbies, as was reading and engaging in games with her family. Her creativity and adventurous spirit drew countless loved ones into her warm and inviting world.
Proudly, Sharon celebrated the accomplishments of her family, and she was particularly devoted to each of her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren, as well as her great-grandchildren. Those closest to her include her son, James (Beth) Plotner, Jr.; son, John (Grace) Plotner; daughter, Melissa (David) Flohre; and son, Jan (Kathleen) Plotner. She also leaves behind a proud legacy through her grandchildren: Jordan (Cody) Renwick, Nicholas Plotner, Vincent Plotner, Gregory (Halie) Plotner, Cameron Flohre, Madison Plotner, Jacob Plotner, Sarah Plotner, and Sidney Plotner. Her love extends even further to her great-grandchildren: Dillon Renwick, Jeremy Renwick, and Amelia Plotner. Survived by her sisters; Diane Martin, Mary Catherine (Brent) Fast. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Paul Everrit Thrush, her mother, Louella Racheal Fisher, and her siblings; Richard Thrush, Paul Fred Thrush, Jean Ann Cremeans, Ronald Thrush, and James Thrush.
A memorial gathering will be held on January 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life. Both events will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
