Markel, Sharon A. (nee Ring) Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Ron passed away on March 23, 2020, during the height of Covid. With gathering restrictions in place at the time, services were not held for Ron. Visitation and services will be held to celebrate both Sharon and Ron.
Sharon and Ron were married on December 28, 1967. Proud and loving parents of Caroline Markel, Teresa (Keith) Miller and R. Brad (Gina) Markel. Cherished Maw Maw and Paw Paw of Katie (Michael Perez), R.J. (Kathy) and Adam Hammond, Thomas and Michael Miller and Grace, Jonathan and the late Angela Christine Markel. Beloved great-grandparents of Frankie Gene Perez. Sharon and Ron are dear to many other family members and friends.
Sharon and Ron loved being with their family. When their children were growing up, they never missed a school play, softball game or baseball game. Sharon and Ron loved being Maw Maw and Paw Paw to their grandchildren. Always supporting them at their soccer games, baseball games, school band concerts and competitions, track meets or any other activity they were involved in. We will always have fond memories of family dinners, family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, Fox Springs Lodge, Bennett Springs and Montauk State Parks. They will be missed by all who knew them.
Ron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany during the Vietnam War. Ron was also very active in North St. Louis County and the Florissant Communities. Sharon worked for many years at the Emerson Family YMCA.
Funeral Monday, December 1, 9:30am, at the Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Charles, MO 63304. Interment to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with Military Honors for Ron.
