Sharon L. Simone

Sharon Lee Simone, known affectionately as "Shari", passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Rochester, Minnesota, to parents Theordore and Dorothy Donaldson Nichols. Shari later became a cherished figure in the Chicago community, touching the lives of many with her generosity and thoughtful nature.
Shari's professional life was marked by a distinguished career with Capital Airlines, followed by her influential role as a Senior Interior Designer for Marshall Field & Company Design Studio on State Street in Chicago. Her creative spirit and keen eye for beauty left an indelible mark on the spaces she designed and the hearts she inspired.
As a devout and active member of the Catholic community, Shari served with passion and dedication at the Church of St. Mary's in Lake Forest, Marytown, St. Patrick's Church in Lemont, and St. Albert the Great Parish. Her devotion to her faith was evident through her roles as a Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer, choir member, and altar designer, enriching the spiritual lives of those around her.
Originally hailing from Minnesota, Shari embraced Chicago as her lifelong home, where she was loved and admired by a wide circle. She was a creative soul, expressing her love for the natural world through poetry, watercolor paintings, and beautifully designed spaces. Shari's adoration for all furry creatures was well-known, reflecting her deep connection to nature and open lands.
Shari's legacy is one of creativity, devotion, and a boundless capacity for giving. She will be remembered as a beacon of light in her community, exemplifying the true spirit of generosity and thoughtfulness in every aspect of her life.
Beloved wife of the late Anthony Francis Simone (2004); loving mother of Steven Anthony Simone, Renee Rudman, Cynthia (the late James) Coughlin, Lisa (Mike) Simone Porter, and Michelle (Jim) Duffy; adored grandmother of Jena (Jeff) Simone, Nicholas Steven Simone, Haley (Kyle) Snyder, Kayla Simone, Michael J. Rudman, Melissa (Jason) Bruce, Ryan (Monique) Rudman, Brooke Royer, Makayla Porter, Holly Porter, Michael Francis Porter, Jr., Melanie (Andy) Dees, and Meghan (Alex) Lewald; great-grandmother of Aiden, Nalani, Phoenix, Ava, Winona, Everly, Elijah; cherished sister of the late Gerald (Mary) Nichols and loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest, on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at private. The service will be livestreamed at https://youtube.com/live/-bHyBLcs4MU?feature=share.
