Sharon Kay Willard Southwick

Our wonderful, sweet angel mother, Sharon Southwick, of Liberty Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 30, 2025, after a 16-month brave and valiant battle with leukemia.

Sharon was born on June 28, 1945, to Lloyd “Bud” and Verena Allred Willard. She is the oldest of five siblings.

She married Franklin O. Southwick on March 15, 1963, in Liberty. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. Together, they had five children, Todd (JaNae) Southwick, Andrew Southwick (died in infancy), Tom (Shelly) Southwick, Travis (Shelly) Southwick, and Amy Southwick-Adcock. She has 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Sharon has lived in Liberty her entire life and made it clear she would never live anywhere else. In 1975, together she and dad built the home where she lived out her life. She loved Liberty with all her heart. She served on the Liberty Park board for many years and was instrumental in building the park and arena as it exists today. She was a member of several horse-riding clubs and enjoyed riding horses. She particularly enjoyed watching her family participate in rodeo, horse shows and just riding in the mountains. She worked as a food service manager at Powder Mountain for 28 years where she developed many lasting friendships among the staff and patrons. Her kids and grandkids were able to learn to ski there and are grateful to her for providing us that opportunity.

Sharon was a caregiver, being a support and friend to many including her husband as they passed from this life to the next. She considered that service her “mission” on earth.

Sharon loves to play cards and is forever grateful to the wonderful group of ladies that she plays with on a regular basis. She looked forward to those days more and more as she got older. She loved to travel and was thankful for friends and family that made it possible for her.

Sharon was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served in many capacities including Relief Society President at 25 years old, Primary President, scout leader and teacher. She loved the temple and her testimony of forever families is firm and strong.

Above all, Sharon, our sweet mom, loved her family. Through good and bad, she was always there to offer support, love, forgiveness and charity. She loved being with her family. She never judged, and accepted everyone for who they were and loved them, no matter what. She was perhaps the most forgiving person we have ever known. She faced many trials throughout her life, including the death of a child, her husband and all of her siblings. Each trial made her stronger and more resilient and each one made her testimony and commitment to the gospel and to her eternal family grow stronger.

Sharon is survived by her children, Todd (JaNae) Southwick, Tom (Shelly) Southwick, Travis (Shelly) Southwick and Amy Southwick-Adcock; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Southwick; her son, Andrew Southwick; her parents, Bud and Verena Willard; and her siblings, Jim, Scott, Sheila and Monty.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty LDS Chapel, 4279 North 3300 East. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Liberty Cemetery.

A very heartfelt and special thank you to Dr. Srinivas Tantravahi, Amanda Dailey-Hansen, her NP and all of the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Clinic and the BMT at Huntsman. You made a difficult situation infinitely more bearable with your cheerful and kind care. We are forever grateful. And thanks to her dear friend Sheri who has been her confidant and support.
