PITTSFIELD-Sharon V. Sweatt, 83, died December 13, 2024, at Diversicare Nursing Home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
She was born on November 17, 1941, in Portland, Maine, a daughter of the late Norman and Shirley (Payson) Kimball. She worked for many years at Northeast Shoe and retired from GE in Pittsfield after 21 years of dedicated employment.
Sharon loved cooking, gardening, reading and especially bingo. She loved travelling and had taken five special trips to Hawaii, as well as gone on several cruises. She had been an avid walker in her younger years, doing 3 miles each day. She enjoyed learning about American Indian history and was quite proud of graduating from Thomas College in 2005, gaining her degree in business. She loved her Pittsfield community and had attended the Congregational Church for many years.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Sweatt and Collin Sweatt; daughter-in-law Mary Bates; sisters: Sandra Brooks and (husband Gleynn Brooks) and Beverly Frost; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Spencer and Connie Sweatt; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence "Larry" Sweatt; and a loving son, Stacey Sweatt.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A committal will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma, Avenue, Pittsfield. All are welcome to the gathering which will be held at the First Congregational Church, 132 Somerset Ave., Pittsfield, following the committal.
