Sharon Torres Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Richards Funeral Home - Cairo on Nov. 19, 2025.
Sharon L. Torres - a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend - passed away unexpectedly, leaving her family and friends heartbroken and the world gentler for having known her. Sharon lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Her warmth touched every person fortunate enough to meet her. Sharon was born in Manhattan, New York

For 51 years, Sharon shared an extraordinary marriage with her husband, Ramon Torres - a partnership rooted in faith, devotion, and unwavering love. She is survived by her beloved children and their partners: Jaime Torres & Santos Carrasquillo, Jennifer & Timothy Johns, Katherine Torres-Cerulli & Jason Bibeau, and Raymond J. Torres.

Sharon was a devoted sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her siblings Linda McCue, Bruce Gregory, and Eileen Donahue; and by her beloved grandchildren - Tyler & Corinne Bushey, Anthony & Aubree Cerulli, and Vinnie Keough. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She leaves behind her closest friends: Marie Lackie, Gail Incigeri, Siobhán Cunnane, Melissa Parker, and many others who loved her dearly.

Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Harriet and Frank Fisher; her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Julio Nieves; her brothers, Michael Fisher and Harry Fisher; and her in-laws, Maria and Ramon Torres.

Her family and friends were her greatest joy, and she poured love and warmth into every moment she shared with them. Sharon will also be fondly remembered and deeply missed by many former students from the Cairo–Durham School District, whose lives she touched with her kindness.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Sharon lived her beliefs through gentleness, humility, and quiet generosity. She loved deeply and had a remarkable gift for comforting others. She found joy in crocheting and cross-stitching, caring for her pets and plants, traveling, exploring history, reading, savoring her daily Stewart's coffee and a cold can of ginger ale, and watching for cardinals - a symbol she held close to her heart. These simple comforts brought her peace and happiness.

DUE TO THE PASSING OF SHARON'S BELOVED HUSBAND RAY, SHARON'S CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE ON MONDAY DEC. 1st, IS BEING POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE AND WILL BE CELEBRATED ALONG WITH RAY…PLEASE CHECK BACK TO OUR WEBSITE FOR UPDATES.

Dear Jaime, "There are no words for something this difficult, but I want you to know I am here for you. Whatever you need, just say the word." "Your parents were such amazing people, and their legacy lives on in you and your siblings. I will always remember your mom when I seen her in Cairo, after so many yrs she remembers me and gave me the biggest hug. That hug was everything I need it that day, I was missing my mom so much. <3
