Sharon Vaughan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hertford County Undertakers on Feb. 16, 2026.
Sharon Deloatch Vaughan was born on February 11, 1964, in Murfreesboro, NC to the late Hazel Deloatch and Edward Deloatch Jr. She was the youngest amongst her siblings. She attended Murfreesboro High School and graduated in 1982. Sharon worked in textiles and served as a correctional officer, but her most important and rewarding roles were wife, mother, and grandmother.

Sharon became a mother in 1985 with the birth of Bryant Aaron Wood. Her youngest daughter Brittany Sharon Wood was born in 1987. Motherhood brought Sharon so much joy. She poured love, wisdom, encouragement, accountability, and strong values and morals into her children.

Sharon had many gifts and talents. She was a phenomenal cook. She was the cook of the Deloatch family preparing food and hosting many holidays and family gatherings. From her beloved chocolate cakes to her one-of-a-kind macaroni and cheese, her food fed the souls of many.

On May 8th, 2010, Sharon married the love of her life, Ronald Maurice Vaughan. They shared a special love and built a beautiful life together. Ronald stood by her side until her final moments. He loved her dearly and cherished the time they had together.

Sharon leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted husband, Ronald Maurice Vaughan; son Bryant Aaron Wood (Amber Wood); daughter Brittany Sharon Wood; grandson Jaivin Damari Wood; granddaughters Peyton Mckenzie Wood, Jada Presley Howington, and Olivia Grace Wood; siblings the late Barbara Ann Deloatch, Debra Jean Deloatch, Phyllis Lorraine Deloatch, Robin Deloatch, Anthony Earl Deloatch (Glenda), Evelyn Latta (Erik Latta); one uncle Lloyd Thomas (Francis); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
