Sharon (Dillman) Velie, age 69, has gone on to meet her Lord Jesus on November 19, 2024.This was her highest goal in life. She dedicated her life to the Lord, becoming a Christian, at the age of 25. Her greatest desire was to serve the Lord. Don't fret, she knew this day was coming, it just took more time than she expected.
Sharon was born on November 29, 1954, to Richard F. Dillman and Emma L. (Hammond) Dillman.
Sharon especially favored her 3 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Gabriel and Colton Benkers. She also cared dearly for her great-nephews, Braden and Brett Chester, along with their parents, Brenda and James Chester.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Adam (Josephine) Benkers and George Hanson, whom she loved to the moon and back. She was also survived by her sisters, Judith (David) Stadtmueller of Ripon, Dawn (Corey) Dobbs of Haitley; and brothers, Daniel Dillman of Edgerton and Robert (Patti) Dillman of Wittenberg. She had asked anyone who knows her family to please take good care of them and hold them tight, as they will need you.
She is proceeded in death by her spouse, Stephen J. Velie; mother, Emma L. Dillman; father, Richard F. Dillman Sr.; brothers, Richard F. Dillman Jr., Bruce A. Dillman and Brian T. Dillman.
Sharon attended nursing school at a later age to become a Registered Nurse. She started her nursing career at Parkview Health Center. She eventually worked at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, Waupaca and finished her career as a state surveyor, inspecting nursing homes in the Madison area. While working at those facilities, she worked at Mercy Medical Center. She had great love for the older generations. After retiring she continued to work in education, traveling to facilities in other states. When she retired, she didn't know how she could find the time to work. She always stayed very busy, but when someone needed help, she was there to help.
She loved family gatherings and getting together to play cards, games, or just talk. She loved people and could talk to any passerby. She loved the water and lived on lakes for over 30 years. She loved to kayak when she could.
In her retirement years, she and her sister Judy would travel. They traveled throughout Arizona several times. Then they started to travel with their brother, Dan, traveling to California and New York to meet their father's biological siblings. She was a person that got things done when on a mission. She diligently prayed for her friends and family, and hoped they would feel her prayers and succumb to the Lord by His Word. John 3:5
Pastor Chris Jansen from Cornerstone (UPCI of Waupun) will officiate the service at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon St., Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 7:00 pm. Visitation will start prior the same day at 5:00 pm until the time of service.
