Sharon Ann Amburgey Vivian (80) of Mt Sterling, KY, died peacefully after a long illness on March 28, 2025, at the Windsor Care Center. The fourth child of Maynard and Frances Lee Amburgey, Sharon was born in Mayfield, KY., on October 2, 1944. She grew up in Carr Creek, Ky surrounded by her siblings and cousins. Sharon graduated from Alice Lloyd College and attended the University of Kentucky. She has been a member of the Gold Star Wives for most of her adult life as a result of the death of her husband Gary in Vietnam.
Sharon enjoyed sewing, reading, and watching game shows, especially The Price Is Right, but her passion was always caring for children. During her years as a full-time homemaker, Sharon served as Cub Scout and Brownie leader, classroom mom, and field trip chaperone among many other roles. She attended every choir and band concert, sporting, and public speaking event her children participated in. She also taught Sunday School at the Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a member for over four decades. In addition to her children and grandchildren, her home was always open to many bonus children and grandchildren through the years. During her career, Sharon worked to set up the Family Resource Center and after-school childcare at Mt. Sterling Elementary and helped plan and run Camp FRC during the summers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gary Pace and Tommy Vivian, brothers Don Amburgey and Larry Amburgey, infant son Gregory Payne, and grandson Dawson Patrick. She is survived by her devoted sister Sheila Wicker of Lexington KY, children Tim Pace (Karen) of St Peters MO, Mike Vivian (Monica) of Madisonville, KY, Lynn Jettpace (Neal) of Jamestown, IN, and Rhonda Vivian of Louisville, KY and a granddaughter she raised, Kayleigh Patrick of Paris, KY. She is also survived by grandchildren Ethan Vivian of Berea KY, Will Vivian of Madisonville, KY, Wiley Jettpace (Katie) of Chicago, IL, Alden Jettpace of Jamestown, IN, and Bethany Pace of St. Peters, MO, and great-grandson Logan Knox of Clay City, KY.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Sterling Elementary Family Resource Center or the Mt. Sterling Library via Grayson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
