Sharon Waltman

Sharon Waltman (Atkins), 82, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Sharon lived a full and beautiful life surrounded by those she loved most. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
An avid reader, Sharon was always up to date on current events and world affairs. She enjoyed thoughtful conversations and had a sharp perspective on everything from politics to Pop Culture. Sharon also had a playful side -- she could often be found winning at solitaire or sharing laughter with friends over a game of Mah Jong.
Above all, her greatest joy came from her family. She took pride in her children and cherished every moment with them and the generations that followed.
Sharon is survived by her loving family: daughter Lori Gelay, son David Modlin, daughter Jaclyn Torres and son-in-law Javier Torres, and stepson Ron Waltman. She was the proud grandmother of Andie Zona and her husband Phil Zona, Joe Gelay and his partner Bree Gonzalez, Helena Torres, Jake Torres, and Olivia Torres. She was also the adoring great-grandmother of Jack Zona and Cameron Zona.
Her love, strength, and compassion will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were lucky enough to be part of her life.
To honor her passion for democracy and social justice, the family asks that contributions be made to the Democratic Party in her memory in lieu of sending flowers.
