Sharon Yvonne Weisler, age 80, longtime Lovington resident until her retirement in 2013, entered Heaven's gates Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born to the late William (Bill) and Burtris (Bea) Zahn in Kermit, TX, on September 16, 1943.
Sharon's father, Bill, was in the oilfield so they moved around until settling in Lovington where Bea's family, the Crocketts, were Lea County homesteaders. Sharon graduated from Lovington High School in 1961. She then attended college at Wayland Baptist University before moving to Las Cruces and meeting the love of her life, Crayton Rodney Weisler. They were married December 28, 1968.
Sharon was a very recognized person in the community of Lovington. She and Crayton owned Lea County Cackleberry Egg Farm, delivering eggs to local grocery stores and restaurants. Sharon worked at banks in the community, eventually drove the school bus, and delivered a 125 mile rural mail route each day. Sharon was always very welcoming with her bright smile and unique and snazzy style, regardless of the weather or the miles she drove. Over the years, she rarely missed her grandchildren's sporting events and could often be heard shouting her support, letting everyone know who she was rooting for. She retired in 2013 after driving bus for 18 years and delivering mail for 25 years. Sharon and Crayton then moved to Albuquerque to be closer to their youngest grandchildren.
After retiring to Albuquerque Sharon joined several groups, including the Red Hat Ladies, traveling all over northern NM to see her beautiful state. She really enjoyed Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center, right down the road from their house, for everything from exercise classes to games and even meals. Sharon quickly made a whole new set of friends and became the treasurer of their neighborhood group.
Sharon is survived by her husband Crayton Rodney Weisler, 3 children, Scott Weisler of Albuquerque, Pat (Ross) Gray of Lovington and Troy (Martha) Weisler of Albuquerque, and 4 grandchildren, TiAda Gray, Tierra (Reid) Zapalac, Maddy Weisler and Rowan Weisler. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marvin Zahn.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 12129 N. Denver City Hwy, Hobbs, NM 88242 on Saturday, December 16 at 10 AM.
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
