Sharon Annalie Fout Whetstone of Albion, IL passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025 at Oakview Nursing Home in Mt. Carmel. She was born on October 11, 1940 in Mt. Erie, Illinois to Carrol and Thelda (Moats) Fout. Sharon married the love of her life, Walter Whetstone, on November 26, 1987, and together they enjoyed 13 years of marriage until Walter’s passing in December 2000.
Sharon was a baptized believer in Christ and attended the Pentecostal church in Mt. Erie as a child. She retired from Sparton Products Inc. where she worked as a secretary until October 1995. Sharon and Walter enjoyed many weekends line dancing together. Sharon was well known for attending her children and grandchildren’s activities with a smile on her face. Visiting at McDonalds, quilting and crocheting, driving grandchildren around, and visiting with friends were some of her favorite pastimes.
Sharon is survived by three children: Brett (Jenny) Speir, Vicki (David) Lear, and Brent Speir and Anita Scarlett. Survivors include ten grandchildren: Caroline Kohlman, Marissa Kohlman, Stacey (Caleb) Gawthorp, Brad Berberich, Colton (Mandi) Speir, Rileigh (Heath) Holman, Ryan (Harley) Lear, Dylan (Tara) Speir, Jacob (Caitlinn) Speir, and MaKayla Speir as well as 15 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Lynn (John) Singleton; and Randy Kohlman, Beverly Borders, Becky Cheetham, Dennis (Lana) Whetstone, and additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Carrol and Thelda (Moats) Fout, infant sister Bernita Mae Fout, brother Cleon Fout, husband Walter Whetstone, and daughter Rhonda Kohlman.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albion.
