Ronald Dale Compton, “R-Dale”, 68, of Albion, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his home in Albion, Illinois.
R-Dale was born on April 6, 1957 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Sandra K. Compton. He grew up in Albion and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Albion. He was a guest member of Albion VFW Post 2222 Legion and the Albion Moose Lodge. He worked as a pavement foreman for over 40 years. He married Jackie (McKenzie) Compton and they enjoyed many happy years together. R-Dale enjoyed being outdoors, playing with his dogs, and he loved sports, softball, basketball, racquetball and tennis. He also loved listening to 60 year old music, like The Beatles, Rod Stewart, David Bowie and the Steve Miller Band. He enjoyed spending time with family most of all, and he will be missed.
R-Dale is survived by his wife, Jackie; his children, Ryan Compton and Katie Compton; a sister, Kathy Emge; and two brothers, Bobby Bishop and Jason (Erica) Bishop; 4 grandchildren Kathryn, Tyrus, Sandra and Kennedy; he was also known as Kunkle/Uncle Dale to several nieces and nephews who also survive. He is also survived by his fur babies Shadow, Shiner, Shelly and Baby Girl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sandra Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help the family with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the service.
Visitation for R-Dale Compton will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Casual dress is requested.
