Sharon Alma Williams, 71 of Mancelona, MI. passed away peacefully at her home with her loved ones by her side on December 5th, 2024. She was born on June 20th, 1953, in Bellaire MI. to the late James Vandergriff and Nancy Jewell (Brown).

Sharon grew up as what she would call a “Antrim brat.” Sharon graduated from Bellaire High School in 1971. She then married the love of her life and soul mate Thomas Williams, in whom she was married for the past 52 years. Together Sharon and Thomas had three children who in return gave her seven grandchildren and subsequently twelve great-grandchildren. Sharon spent most of her life either working in the manufacturing industry or caring for others in the health care field. Sharon loved to give back to her community and to others and was very passionate about helping others. Sharon volunteered at Mancelona Lanes where she was a coach for the Youth Bowling Association (YBA) and held many chair positions with the Women’s Bowling Association (WBA). Sharon spent time transporting seniors with the Bellaire Commission on Aging in her passion of helping others. Sharon also spent time as a chair holder with the Mancelona Lions Club. Sharon enjoyed many things in life, some of her favorites included her family, bowling, Karaoke and Christmas time. Sharon entered the Mancelona Idol at the Bass Festival on several occasions winning 1st place on several occasions. Sharon has the voice of an angel that will be remembered by many. One song that she will be remembered for the most is “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.”

She is survived by her husband Thomas H. Williams, of Mancelona MI; Children, Daniel S Williams (Nicki) of Mancelona MI, Becky L Chambers (Joseph) of Rapid City MI, Kelly W Hughes (Jody) of Gaylord MI; Grandchildren; Shyenne, Rose, Kali, Andy, Brandon, Briahna, Braiden; Great-Grandchildren; Kaleb, Dawson, Trinity, Aubree, Serenity, Annabelle, Paiden, Paisley, Hailee, Riley, Brandon Jr, Easton and many extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Her brother; Daniel S. Vandergriff (Gloria); Her sister; Doris J. Day, Sister-in-law; Fern Vandergriff, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents James Vandergriff, and Nancy Jewell-Vandergriff (Brown), Stepfather; Alvin Brown, brothers; Jim Vandergriff, and Timothy Vandergriff, brother-in-law; Marvin Day, Sister; Kay Vandergriff, nieces; Crystal Vandergriff, and Doris (D.D.) Day.

Memorial Services will take place at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church at 10725 Darrah Rd. Mancelona Mi. on December 9th, 2024. The immediate family viewing will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A public viewing will take place from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for extended family and friends. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 pm.

The family encourages those who can come dressed in their most festive Christmas costume and bring a Santa hat. 

In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting that you engage in a random act of kindness in honor of Sharon and her passion of giving back to others.
