Sharon Lea Wold was born in Sioux Falls, SD on July 15, 1939 to William and Evelyn (Qualseth) Marquardt. Sharon attended Cathedral Catholic Elementary and High School in Sioux Falls until her graduation in 1957. Sharon was married to Raymond Laverne Wold on January 14, 1960 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD.
For more than 25 years, Sharon dedicated her days to the students of Renberg Elementary School in Renner, where she served as a compassionate and beloved teacher’s aide. Her gentle spirit and unwavering patience made every child feel seen and valued. Beyond the classroom, she shared her faith and love for learning as a longtime Sunday School teacher at Renner Lutheran Church. Working with children wasn’t just her career—it was her calling, and she poured her heart into every moment of it.
Sharon was a passionate NASCAR fan who loved the music of Elvis and treasured the joy of the Christmas season. She also enjoyed attending classic car events—especially the “Back to the Fifties” car shows—and taking memorable road trips and camping adventures with her beloved husband, Raymond. Thoughtful in every way, she was known for always picking out the perfect Hallmark card for her friends and family, a small gesture that reflected her kindness and attention to detail. Yet above all else, her deepest devotion was to her faith, which guided and sustained her throughout her life. Most mornings, she could be found reading her devotions over a cup of coffee, thoughtfully selecting Guideposts books for her family, or sending heartfelt affirmations to those she loved. Sharon will be deeply missed by many.
Grateful for sharing her life, Sharon is survived by her husband, Raymond Wold of Renner, SD; two children, Randy Wold (Jean) of Sioux Falls, SD, Debra Biagiotti (Guy) of Newport Coast, CA; three granddaughters, Katie Wold, of Sioux Falls, SD, Lauren and Ava Biagiotti of Newport Coast, CA; sister, Esther Marquardt of Costa Mesa, CA; and sister-in-law Colleen Ruiz of Beresford, SD.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, William and Evelyn Marquardt; sister, Donna Scott; brothers, Darrell Marquardt and Donald Marquardt.
