Sharon Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral Homes - Vandalia on Mar. 4, 2026.
Sharon Elaine Wright passed away after a brief illness on March 3, 2026, surrounded by family in Boulder City, Nevada. Sharon was born in Pana, Illinois on August 6, 1942, the youngest child of Hubert and Vivian Horsley. She was born 5 minutes after her twin brother. She grew up in Vandalia, Illinois and graduated from Vandalia Community High School. She attended nurse training at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and graduated as a registered nurse in 1963.

In 1963 she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Wright who was earning his dental degree at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Sharon worked as a nurse to help the family finish dental school. Upon graduation, Joe joined the Air Force and he and Sharon moved to Dayton, Ohio where their son, Chris, was born. After a transfer to George AFB, California, their second son, Kevin, was born. After their stint in the Air Force and a brief practice in Kansas City, Sharon and Joe settled in Del City, Oklahoma where they raised their boys. Every weekend was spent at the boys' baseball and football games. Sharon had a keen eye for design and artistic innovation and served for a time as a television reporter. After Joe retired and sold his dental practice he and Sharon moved to Boulder City, Nevada to be close to Kevin's family. Several years after Joe's death in 2015 Sharon met her cherished friend, Ernie Reed who preceded her in death.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and husband Joe. She is survived by son, Chris (Denise) of Oklahoma City; son, Kevin (Stephanie) of Boulder City; grandchildren, Justin, Jackson, Ava and Luke; and great granddaughter Indigo; sister, Carolyn Daniels of Vandalia; brother, Sherel (Patty) of Dallas; as well as Friend Jim Pennington. No funeral services are planned.
