Sharyn Kaye Hartwig, age 81, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her residence in Wheaton, under hospice care.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton.
Sharyn was born to Elvin and Hazel Olsen on March 10, 1942 in rural Wheaton. She went to country school before moving into Wheaton. Sharyn married Gary Kern in 1958. This marriage ended. She married Linton Douglas Hartwig on April 14, 1962 at the Mission Covenant Church Parsonage. She moved to California where Doug was in the Navy. The family moved around a lot to different Navel bases mostly in California, with a brief stay in Tennessee for special training, then back to California. Sharyn had four children: Wendy, Kristie, Dan, and Sandy. Sharyn and her family moved back to Minnesota, then to Wyoming and then to Wheaton. The family lived in Mankato, MN for a couple of years and the moved back to Wheaton. Sharyn worked as a CNA and med aide in various nursing homes and as a cook in several places. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning and asparagus hunting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Sharyn is survived by her children: Wendy Wild; Kristie Voss; Sandra (Jon) Block; grandchildren: James, Leon, Greg, Jessica, Rachel, Samantha, Jacklyn, Philip; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Sharyn is preceded in death by her parents Elvin and Hazel Olsen; husband Doug Hartwig; son Dan Hartwig; brothers: Maylon Olsen; Marlon Olsen; grandchildren: William Wild and Morgan Block.
