Shaun S. Blanton, 45, of Asheville, died July 29, 2024, at Mission Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.
He was known as an exceptionally talented musician, artist and craftsman who loved working with various bands throughout his life including his own and traveling the world. But most of all Shaun was a fun loving, loyal and supportive friend.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Edmond Bennett and Mary Mullins Bennett of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, maternal grandparents Joyce Griffith Prewitt of Sylva, and Raymond Jackson Prewitt of Buchanan, Georgia, and his uncles Ronal Lee Prewitt of Leicester, Roy Jackson Prewitt of California, William Glenn Prewitt of Sylva, Ronald Clines Blanton of Iowa and Bernice (Richard) Manion of Louisville, Kentucky.
Left to cherish Shaun’s memory are his spouse Angela Dorlan Blanton, beloved parents Calvin Thomas Blanton and Linda Prewitt Blanton of Asheville; his loving sister Cynthia Ingle (Timothy), nephew Oliver Ingle of Leicester; Aunts and Uncles Lena Richie (Oval) of Sylva, Betsy Prewitt of Leicester and Bobby Prewitt (Joan) of Michigan, Margaret Bennett Braley (Danny) of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; cousins Jason Richie and Caleb Richie of Sylva, Matthew Prewitt (Kelsey) of Fines Creek, Sarah Prewitt of Michigan, and numerous other cousins.
A celebration of Shaun’s life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services; with a visitation held from 1 to 3 pm prior to the service.
Arrangements are in the care of Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva, North Carolina.
