Memorial Service for Gary Shawn Bishop will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Seaton officiating.

Shawn was born on May 16, 1966, to Don Bishop and Karen Smith in Brownfield, TX. He passed away on November 27, 2024, at the age of 58.

Shawn met the love of his life, Deborah, on the dance floor at a local rodeo. Their bond, a testament to their shared joy and laughter, flourished for 24 beautiful years until her passing in 2014. Always a prankster with a kind heart, Shawn maintained a devoted focus on ensuring that his beloved daughter, Ashley, was happy and well-cared for.

Shawn’s approach to life was evident in his talent for fixing anything that came his way. Though it might take him two tries, there wasn’t a tool he couldn't wield to get the job done. He had a knack for assembling and disassembling anything with wheels, whether electric or traditional bicycles, and he could often be found riding them daily.

A lover of dogs, Shawn cherished his faithful companions, Babushka, Smidgen, and Debo, who snuggled beside him every night. His gentle demeanor and commitment to maintaining peace around him made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Shawn is preceded in death by his parents, Don Bishop and Karen Smith; wife, Deborah Bishop; sister, Jillann Skaggs; and 2 adopted sons, Thomas Nivens and Dillon Skaggs.

Shawn is survived by his daughter, Ashley Bishop; 2 adopted sons, Justin Skaggs and Derek Skaggs; adopted daughter, Jacquelyn Press; brother, Ty Chandler; sister, Kelly Gibson; and 5 grandchildren, Ariana Press, Adrian Press, Aleeria Hartfield, Xavier White, and Adonis Bishop.
