We are sad to announce the passing of Shawn Anthony Ellis, 52, of Middletown, DE. Shawn is
originally from Jamaica Queens, NY where he attended August Martin High School. Shawn was
born on May 17, 1971 to Ernestine Ellis & William Wade Sr. of Brooklyn, NY. He passed away
on June 7, 2023 suddenly after a short battle with an unforeseen illness surrounded by his loved
ones.
In his time, Shawn did construction, home improvements, and spent 30+ years driving tractor
trailers. He was a Mason and was involved with the Stone Square Lodge #22 in Middletown,

the ones in need. He enjoyed fishing, and often took seasonal trips with friends and family to
find the best catch. Shawn was known to express his love and compassion for people through his
food, and would never give up an opportunity to care for those in need. He also enjoyed
spending time with the ones he loved. Music was his thing, he loved listening to reggae, R&B
and oldies. Shawn had an infectious laugh, he was the life of the party, bringing joy and good
times with him wherever he went.
He is preceded in death by his adopted father Isaac Richardson (Johnny) of Queens, NY and his
mother Ernestine Ellis. Shawn is survived by his wife, Marsha A. Ellis, nine children, Dekara
Johnson, Anthony Minter, Shawn Ellis, Shantae Ellis, Tyrell Ellis, Mya Burrell, Brianna Ellis,
and Rhoan Daley, Twanna Delva and twenty-four grandchildren.

Donald, Anthony, William Jr; Jamel, Johnny and Wayne. His five sisters, Lara, Tonya, Tracey,
Angelique, and Celeste. As well as a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Thank you
