Dateline: Selmer, TN Graveside funeral services for Shawn Travis Jones will be Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Hopewell Cemetery, Gleason, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow. Brother Kenny Carr is the officiant and pallbearers to serve are Paul Klutts, Jeremy Leyhue, Robert Harrison, Bill Mayberry, Jonathan Stanton and Jason Mize. Mr. Jones, 51 years old, died on February 23, 2025, at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West in Nashville. He was Baptized at Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie and accepted Christ as his Savior. Shawn was a typical little redheaded boy that loved to fish, earning him his nickname, Opie. He married Dana Elam on June 29, 2002, in Selmer. He loved fishing, hunting, football and his Dana, but not in that order. Anyone that knew him knew that Dana came first. Throughout his struggles with his health and up to the very end, he wanted to do whatever it would take to make it easier on Dana. He enjoyed grilling, hanging out with his buddies, country music and cheering on the McKenzie Rebels. He is survived by his wife Dana Elam Jones, mother Lois Jones, mother and father-in-law Coy Goodrum Elam and Danny Elam and special friends Paul Klutts and Jeremy Leyhue. He is preceded in death by his father John Jones and brother Shannon Jones.
