DOVER - Shawn Melhorn, 58, rode his Harley through the gates of Heaven on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

Born December 6, 1966, in North York, he was the beloved son of Jeff and the late Bonnye Melhorn. Shortly after graduating from York Tech, he knew he could only be his own boss and started Melhorn Contracting, a roofing and exteriors company he ran for over 30 years.

Shawn was an avid hunter and all-around outdoorsman who refused to miss a trip to the mountains under any condition. He was the best storyteller and made a friend everywhere he went. Outgoing and full of life, he truly LIVED every minute of the day on his own terms (just ask his wife). He loved his family, his motorcycle, going to his hunting camp, sharing a beer with his friends at the Wago or the 12th Ward-where he was a proud member-and anything that got his adrenaline going.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Melhorn of Dover; his three children, Samantha Melhorn, Megan Melhorn, and Shane Melhorn, all of Dover; two grandchildren, Zeek and Lucas Laracuente; his father, Jeff Melhorn of York; his sister, Shannon, and her husband, Chris Triplett of York; and his grandmother, Miriam Melhorn of York.

Shawn was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend Shawn's visitation from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. followed by a service to celebrate Shawn's life at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.
