Jessy Lee Melhorn went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025, at the age of 80.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Melhorn; mother, Attie Marie Melhorn; wife, Sheila Melhorn (Eastridge); and brothers, Claude, Jim, and Tom Melhorn.
Jessy is survived by his son, Mitchell Melhorn (Nicole); daughter, Colleen Melhorn (Donald Breeden); and stepsons, George E. Sampsel, Joel Sampsel (Michelle) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on January 24, 1945, Jessy spent most of his youth working on farms alongside his brothers. As he grew older, he joined the R.O.T.C. and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country in Libya and rose to the rank of Sergeant. After completing his service, Jessy returned home and worked for both Martin Marietta and the Y-12 National Security Complex as an electrician with the I.B.E.W., where he remained until retirement.
During this time, Jessy accepted Jesus as his Savior and met his wife, Sheila, through church. Together, they shared many joyful years.
Known as a "man of few words," Jessy was also a man of great intelligence, dependability, and quiet strength.
Sheila often described him simply as "a good man." He was a devoted father, stepfather, husband, grandpa and neighbor. An avid farmer, Jessy grew more than he needed and generously shared his harvest with many in the community.
Jessy lived a full life. His labor is now complete, and he rests peacefully with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Services to be held at Middle Creek Baptist Church on Saturday May 31, 2025, Visitation 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Paul Mayton and Pastor Corey Jones presiding.
