Shawn Patrick Wilson, 52, of Cape Girardeau, MO, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau. He was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, September 4, 1971, to parents Charles Howard and Peggy Ann (Dildine) Wilson.
Shawn was a loving son, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was a truck driver for CPC Logistics and enjoyed working as he worked all the time. He had also worked for Prairie Farms, Three Eagles Distribution, and US Foods. He was of the Catholic faith. Shawn was an extraordinary father and had a love for sports. He loved basketball, baseball, and was an avid supporter of the Southeast Missouri State RedHawks and the St. Louis Cardinals. Shawn especially enjoyed watching his son, Lance, play baseball and never missed a game until recently when he became ill. Shawn never missed an opportunity to take his children out for dinner to Mexican or whatever they wanted. Eva, his daughter, had Shawn wrapped around her little finger. All she had to do was bat her eyes and his heart melted. They shared a love for animals. If Eva wanted a certain animal, Shawn was sure to make her dream come true.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Shawn is survived by his mother, Peggy, of Farmington; children Lance and Eva Wilson and their mother, Shanna Kelly Wilson of Cape Girardeau; grandmother: Mary Sue Dildine; brother: Neil Wilson of Farmington; niece: Karly Wilson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Shawn will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A family graveside service is to be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lance and Eva Wilson Trust at any Montgomery Bank in Shawn's honor. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
