DAVIS-McKELRY, Mrs. Shawna Rena - Age 56, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, December 1, 2023 at Second Friendship Baptist Church, 6046 N. Clio Rd., Mt. Morris, MI. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Rodney Williams, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Davis-McKelry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Shawna Rena Davis-McKelry, the beloved daughter of the late Willie B. Davis and Brenda Evan Davis, was born on Sunday, March 26, 1967, in Birmingham, AL. She departed this life on Sunday, November 17, 2023. Shawna graduated from Flint Community Schools in 1985 where she matriculated to a local community college to obtain her CNA Certification and her Cosmetology License. Upon successfully completing both certifications, Shawna went on to work in both fields for many years until her health no longer allowed her to. On December 27, 2018, Shawna and Marcell exchanged vows, promising to love and cherish each other for eternity. Marcell loved Shawna and was always by her side through sickness and health just as they vowed to one another, showing his unwavering love, support, and providing comfort and strength through challenging times. Shawna's love for her husband Marcell was an extraordinary bond that touched the hearts of all who knew them. Their love story was one of unwavering commitment, deep understanding, and endless support. From the moment they met, their connection was undeniable, and it only grew stronger with time. Shawna's eyes would light up whenever she spoke of Marcell, and her love for him shone through in every word and gesture. Shawna was a member of Second Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Mount Morris, MI. Shawna's love for her church family was a testament to her compassionate and caring nature. She found solace, support, and a sense of belonging within the walls of her beloved church. Shawna's commitment to her faith was unwavering, and she poured her heart and soul into serving others. She cherished the fellowship of her church family, embracing each member with open arms and a warm smile. Her dedication to spreading love, kindness, and faith touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Shawna's love for her church family was a reflection of her deep-rooted belief in the power of faith and community, and her legacy will continue to inspire others to follow in her footsteps of selfless love and devotion. Shawna Rena Davis-McKelry leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Marcell McKelry of Flint, MI; her two sons, Sir Davis (Tashara) of Davidson, NC and James Bonner (Chanel) of Flint, MI; daughter, Precious Davis of Flint, MI; goddaughter, Samira Ernest of Flint, MI; two bonus children by way of marriage, J'ya and Tayshawn McKelry of Flushing, MI; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Makayla Bonner-16 (James), A'Zurii McNair-15 (Sir), SymPhoney Davis-10 (Precious), Lyriq Davis-8 (Precious), Nehemiah Bonner-8 (James), Musica Davis-7 (Precious), Pandora Davis-4 (Precious), Siryah Davis-3 (Sir) and Rhythm Davis-8 mos. (Precious); her uncle Fortino Harris of Flint, MI; her brother Melvin Carlise (Atiya) of St. Louis, MO; her best friends/sisters Mary Alexander of Flint, MI and Lavetta Phillips of Flint, MI; her loving Mother and Father in love, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Norma McKelry of Flushing, MI; her sister-in-love Tamia Hunter of Forney, TX. And a host of cousins and friends. Shawna is preceded in death by her father, Willie B. Davis; her mother, Brenda Evan Davis; her sister, Shante B. Davis; and her son, Llwendell Gillespie Jr.
