Shay Stephens

Patrick Shay Stephens, 58, of Baird, Texas, formerly of Anson, Texas, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson with Pastor Bruce Morgan officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at First Methodist Church, 832 Commercial Ave., Anson.

Shay was born on December 13, 1967, in Lubbock, Texas to William Lee and Carolyn (Tarrance) Stephens. He was raised in Morton, Texas and graduated from Morton High School. Shay attended Texas State Technical Institute where he studied Electronic Technology. Early in his career, Shay worked as a HVAC Technician and later owned and operated Stephens Air Conditioning and Heating. Growing up working on the family farm in Morton sparked his love for farming and ranching and grew his passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed mountain biking, fishing, hunting, and hiking. Shay had a big heart and loved his family.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Stephens of Abilene; three sons, John Stephens and wife Brooke of Abilene, Texas, Burt Stephens and wife Marissa of New Braunfels, Texas and Aaron Stephens and Megan of Georgetown; one daughter, Christy Wells of Milford, Massachusetts, one sister, Shani Hartman and husband Steve of Morton, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, Paisley, Ronnie, Avie, Sophie, Will, Harper, Jagger, Archie, Daisy, Indie, Noah, Bella and Violet; niece and nephews, Brandi, Derek and Spencer; the mother of his children, Kim Stephens of Austin, Texas and many other relatives and friends.

Shay was preceded in death by his father, William Lee Stephens.
