Thomas O’Shea McCann, a lifelong Middletown resident, was born on July 11, 1952, and passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026.
He is survived by his loving wife of eleven years, Teresa Kinser McCann, and also by her daughters, Erica (Keith) Kinser-Kempka and Kristin (Robert) Kramer, and their children, Kase Kempka, Blythe Kempka, Kinser Wiefering, Ryker Wiefering, and Aiden Kramer.
Shea also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Denise (Robert) Sommers and Missy Howard; his nieces, Jessica Kalmus and Lauren (Matt) Mobley; great-nephew Tanner Riley; and great-niece Ashlynn Caudill. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Steve Swank.
Shea is preceded in death by his mother, Suzanne Smith, and father, James R. Smith.
He worked for 32 years at AK Steel and later spent 11 years in maintenance at Butler Tech.
Shea was an incredibly talented man who was always building or rebuilding something. Over the years, he worked on model airplanes, model railroads, antique cars, and countless woodworking projects, as well as many creations dreamed up with his family. He loved the challenge of a new project and rarely sat still, always happiest when he was busy making or fixing something. He had a remarkable ability to create, repair, and maintain nearly anything that came his way.
He always enjoyed his annual trip with Teresa to Virginia Beach to soak up the sun and walk the beach. Shea also loved riding his Harley-Davidson through the Smoky Mountains and telling of the time a bear ran into him on one of the backroads he enjoyed.
Shea loved his home with Teresa and took great pride in keeping the house and yard looking beautiful.
Shea was so fun-loving with a great sense of humor. He will be missed terribly. We will celebrate a life well-lived, on his own terms, marked by a devotion to family, and a willingness to lend a helping hand when needed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at Trenton GracePointe Church of the Nazarene, 220 North Main Street in Trenton, Ohio.
