Lee Lucas Obituary

Leland "Lee" Barry Lucas, 75, of Flatwoods, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home in Flatwoods.

He was born on November 26, 1950, in West Hamlin, West Virginia, to the late Billy James Lucas and Dolly Atkins Lucas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings.

Lee is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more than 55 years Jo E Lucas, two sons, Bryan Lee Lucas and Billy Joe Lucas both of flatwoods, two sisters, Betty Jordan and Mauna Faye Dingess, seven grandchildren, Cody Lee Lucas, Kyle Andrew Lucas, Kayla Brown, Sean Reed Lucas, Elexus Lucas, Dylan McKenzie Lucas and Chelsey Lucas, nine great-grandchildren, Liam, Oliva, James, Ronnie, Kamy, Ezra, Easton, Elani, and Elias, and a host of other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Lee spent 30 years working as a millwright electrician at AK Steel in Middletown, Ohio, where he built a reputation as a hardworking and dependable man who knew his trade well. Through long hours and demanding work at the plant, he remained dedicated to the job and to the people he worked with. Above all, Lee worked hard to provide for his family, talking pride in making sure they were always cared for and supported.

Lee will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He was a true jack of all trades and the kind of guy people called when something needed fixed, built, or figured out. Whether he was working on a car, building something in the shop, or tackling a carpentry project, Lee liked to stay busy and took pride in doing things with his own two hands.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially time spent fishing and hunting outdoors, which he loved so much. Lee also had a deep appreciation for local history and enjoyed sharing stories about the past, especially the legends of Tecumseh and The Blue Jacket that were part of the region's history. His curiosity, storytelling, and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Lee will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his life outdoors, and the many friendships he made along the way.

A celebration of Lee's life will be held from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2026, at Carman Funeral Home.
