Flatwoods, Kentucky passed away on February 28, 2026, at his residence in Flatwoods.
He was born on February 28, 1955, to the late Norman Hensrells Stephens and Dorothy Irene Chase Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Darrell Haney, and two brothers, Bo Stephens and Ed Stephens.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 46 dedicated years, Sharon Stephens, two daughters, Angie Stevens and her husband Richard of Flatwoods and Michelle Haney of Garrison, Kentucky, one sister, Laila "Cookie" Paxton, three grandchildren, Mia Reffitt, Cody Stevens and Gage Stevens, six great grandchildren, Serenity, Nevaeh, Parker, Lincoln, Laney and Cason, and a host of other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Lee passed away leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and loyalty to the people and passions that meant the most to him. For 46 wonderful years, he was a devoted and proud husband, never missing a chance to speak of his wife and the life they built together. Their marriage was his greatest accomplishment and his steady source of joy. Lee often lived by his favorite saying, "it is what it is," a simple phrase that reflected his steady spirit and his ability to face life with acceptance and quiet strength.
He found peace with a fishing pole in hand, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, and could be found on game day cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team. He had a playful heart and a special fondness of Disney's Mickey Mouse, a reminder of the joy he carried throughout his life. A gifted woodworker, Lee crafted lasting treasures with his hands and cherished the simple pleasure of visiting with his best friend Mr. Wilson. He will be remembered for his devotion, craftsmanship, and the steady, loving presence he brought to everyone around him.
At Lee's request there will be no services.
