Ms. Sheena Kauffman, 53, of Browns Summit, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her home surrounded by her partner, James Rumley and her two sisters, DeAnna Ouderkirk and Laura Schmidt. Her battle with medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile and always pushing through despite the pain. An unexpected turn in her recovery from a recent hospital stay led to her sudden and unexpected decline. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Sheena, a good cup of coffee and breakfast with Jim and spending time on her porch with her dog Ozzy Pawsbourne, the latest of the many dogs and animals she surrounded herself with throughout her short life. A loving partner, mother, sister, cousin and dear friend. She was a kind soul and very hard worker. She worked in construction and on farms, she loved being outdoors and working with animals. Jim and Sheena enjoyed traveling and working side by side. Sheena was preceded in death by her father, Gary Hasenbank formerly of Newton, KS. Sheena is survived by her loving partner of 20 years, James Rumley of Browns Summit; her daughter, Kelly and Tyler Benson of Moraga, CA; her son John Welles Wilder IV “JW” of Burlington, NC; her son Juston Buster of Emporia, KS and her daughter Mickey Kauffman of Burlington, NC; Her grandchildren: Landin, Benjamin and John Welles Wilder V “Jonah”; her mother, Betty Hasenbank of Marion, KS, her brother Ron and Bee Hasenbank of Newton, KS; her sister DeAnna and Kevin Ouderkirk of Lenexa, KS; her brother Eric Hasenbank of Hillsboro, KS; her sister Laura and Doug Schmidt of Hillsboro, KS; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
