Sheila Dorothy Berger, 85, of St. Augustine, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring.
Sheila Aranowitz Berger was born on March 12, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, to the late Murray and Hilda Aranowitz. She was raised in the Bronx, where she later met and married the love of her life, Walter Berger. Together, they shared a devoted marriage and raised three children while making homes in Maryland, New Jersey, West Palm Beach, and Port St. Lucie, Florida.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sheila dedicated her early years to caring for her family as a homemaker. In the late 1980s, she began a career in retail, where her strong work ethic and engaging personality left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. In 2024, she relocated to St. Augustine, Florida, to be closer to her family.
Sheila will be remembered for her sharp wit, steadfast opinions, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Known for her grace, poise, and impeccable sense of style, Sheila took pride in her appearance and carried herself with dignity and confidence. She enjoyed her morning coffee, was a dedicated viewer of Fox News, and an enthusiastic supporter of the Miami Heat.
Sheila's warmth, humor, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her children, Faith Watson, Allison Monaghan (Paul), and Eric Berger (Brandy); her sister, Arlene Cicero; grandchildren, Arianna, Gigi, Joseph Paul, Patrick and Keaghan Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Dixie, Matthew, and Hayden Rae.
Sheila was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Berger, and her parents, Murray and Hilda Aranowitz.
Funeral service will be held at 5pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 3-5.
