Sheila D. Wolfe Carter, age 79 of Tallapoosa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Bristol, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Howard Wolfe and the late Alpha Samantha Roberts Wolfe. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Carl Richard Snyder, Jr. and Howard Franklin Carter, Jr. and her siblings.

An avid outdoors woman, Sheila spent many hours in the woods hunting. Her expert marksmanship was seen in the many deer she had mounted on her walls and the countless racks she had collected. She hunted not only deer, but also turkeys, squirrels and rabbits. Sheila's talents were also displayed in gardening each year where she enjoyed growing beautiful vegetables to share with family. Her pioneer spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Howard Carter; her children and their spouses, Toni & Mark Benefield and Steven & Vicki Carter, all of Tallapoosa; her precious grandchildren: Matthew Benefield, Casey Benefield, Josh Holdbrooks, Justin Holdbrooks, and Jacob Holdbrooks; and her great-grandchildren: Turner Daniel Benefield, Canaan Holdbrooks, Cohen Luke Holdbrooks, Piper Mae Holdbrooks, Hudson Holdbrooks, and Hanson Holdbrooks.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 26th, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a graveside service for Sheila Carter will conducted at the family cemetery with Rev. Richard Brannon officiating. The following gentlemen are honored to serve as pallbearers: Matthew Benefield, Casey Benefield, Justin Holdbrooks, Kendall Holderfield, Chris White, and Mark Bush.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Carter family.
