Sheila Ann Eagles was born in Burlington, Vermont on a beautiful autumn afternoon, Sunday, October 6, 1946. She was welcomed into the world by her loving parents, Alvin and Peg Hill. When Sheila was just a young child, the family moved to California, where she would spend most of her life.

She graduated from Sunset High School with aspirations of becoming a dental hygienist. However, her life took a new and wonderful turn when she met the love of her life, Chuck Eagles, during a Labor Day weekend camping trip in Yosemite in 1964. The two married on January 2, 1965, and celebrated 58 years of marriage until Chuck’s passing.

Affectionately known as “Nana,” Sheila was the heart of her family. She was a devoted mother to Mark (Yvette) of Arroyo Grande, CA, John (Jennifer) of Hendersonville, TN, and Margaret “Peggy” of Gallatin, TN.

Her love only grew with the addition of her grandchildren—Michael, Christa, Keith, Joseph, Sofia, Zach, Nick, Logan, Andrew, Tiffany, Chelsey, Emily,—and great-grandchildren—Brayden, Evie, Mia, Ariel, Camilla, Henry, Stephen, Everlie, Carter, Shaelynn, Elliana, Kennedy, Shawn, and Mia Isabella. Nothing brought Sheila more joy than doting on her grandchildren and being surrounded by family. Her patience and unconditional love left a lasting imprint on every generation.

Sheila was an avid reader, a lover of chocolate, flowers, and tea parties, and a night owl who delighted in long conversations. She had a deep appreciation for history and storytelling, often sharing treasured details of her family’s past. Creative to the core, she tried her hand at every craft she encountered and always dreamed of becoming a writer. Sheila enjoyed board games with her family, shopping trips, time outdoors, her local Moose Lodge community, and painting. She enjoyed her church sisters and was grateful for this extension of family. Her life was full of warmth, color, and connection.

After raising her children, Sheila fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning her degree in Social Work from Fresno State University. She served with compassion at the Marjaree Mason Center, a shelter supporting women and families affected by abuse. Later, she worked on the emergency hotline for Fresno County Child Protective Services, where her steady presence and deep empathy made a lasting impact on children and families in crisis. Sheila retired from Fresno County after years of dedicated public service, leaving behind a legacy of care, strength, and commitment.

Sheila Ann Eagles will be remembered for her faith, kindness, her fierce devotion to her family, her gentle spirit, and her boundless love. She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of grace, strength, and generosity. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Until we meet again.
