Sheila Ann Goff

Sheila Ann Goff, died July 2, 2022 at the age of 83 with family by her side in Raleigh, NC. A memorial service is planned at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, Raleigh NC on July 9, 2022, at 3:00 pm. The family will receive guests in the reception hall immediately after the service.


Sheila was born January 7, 1939, in Paterson, NJ to Maynard and Ann Hoffman. The family moved to Miami, FL in 1947. Following High School, Sheila took a job with Pan American Airlines at the Air Force Missile Station in Cape Canaveral, FL where she joined in the American space race. It was during this time of her life (1964) where she met Russell W Goff and they were married in Cocoa Beach, FL in 1966. They were blessed with two children, Russell W Goff, Jr and Kristen Ann McHugh. Following an active family life in Brevard County they moved to Raleigh, NC in 1986.

Sheila's personal calling from God was to provide shelter and housing to those in need. Over the years Russ and Sheila opened their home to over 24 individuals – many of which maintain close ties to this day. She was an active church member over the years serving as a youth minister, bible study leader, marriage encounter counselor and many other ministries. In most recent years she joined the North Raleigh United Methodist Church faith community. Her hobbies and interests included family, travel, bridge, NC State basketball, and shopping. She was also very involved in the activities of her beloved grandchildren.

Sheila is survived by her husband Russell Goff Sr; brothers Lary (Ann) Hoffman and Robert (Mary Jane) Hoffman; son Russell (Andrea) Goff Jr.; daughter Kristen McHugh; grandchildren Jupiter, Henry and Sofia Goff; Clare (Anthony) Dominowski; Shea and Timothy McHugh; and grand-dog Rosie.
