Sheila M. Neves, 80, wife of the late Joseph A. Neves, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Amesbury.
She was born in Gloucester on February 15, 1945, daughter of the late John "Cackle" and Alice (Rose) Morse.
Sheila was a graduate of Gloucester High School. She worked at United Shoe for a time then opened her own restaurant, the Eastern Avenue Restaurant, where she served everything from soup to nuts. She later worked for the Gloucester Public School System as a cook, retiring from there.
She also was as caretaker for Our Lady of Good Voyage Church under Rev. Eugene L. Alves. She truly loved working for him.
Sheila enjoyed going to the casinos, camping, family vacations to Disney in Florida and cruising, where one of her trips she took everyone from the restaurant on vacation. She also was a longtime member of the Our Lady of Good Voyage Women's Guild.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Gillis and her husband Tom; her son, Scott Neves and his significant other, Caroline; grandchildren, Ian Gillis, Nicholas Neves and Taylor Neves and her significant other, Ian Dolaher; her niece, Toni Rowe and nephew, Jeffrey McCormack and her childhood best friend, Sally McRae.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA 01930
