Sheila Jean Porter, age 68, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Born on April 1, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sheila led a life characterized by warmth, joy, and dedication to her family.
Sheila met her lifelong companion, Jerry Porter, during high school, and the two became sweethearts, eventually marrying on September 26, 1975. Together, they created a loving home and welcomed their daughter, Krista Henson, in 1978. Sheila's family was her proudest accomplishment, and she cherished the bonds she shared with them.
Professionally, Sheila had an extensive career in banking, working diligently at several branches where she advanced to the role of manager and head teller. Her outgoing and fun-loving nature allowed her to connect with both colleagues and customers alike, making her a beloved presence in the institutions she served.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Sheila found joy in many interests and hobbies. She loved card games, especially playing Shanghai Rummi, and delighted in creating delicious refreshments for her gatherings. Her fondness for Madeira Beach, Florida, took her on adventures where she relished in shell hunting, relaxing by the pool, shopping, sightseeing, and enjoying dolphin cruises. A devoted gardener, Sheila took great pride in her yard, ensuring her lawn was beautifully manicured and adorned with flowering bushes that painted her home vibrant with nature’s beauty.
Sheila is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jerry; her daughter, Krista Henson; and her sisters, Vicki Byrd, Leanne (Randy) Kolbet, and Tammy (Larry) Brookbank. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathy Haggerty; sister-in-law, Bonita (Bob) LaGesse; mother-in-law, Ruby Porter; and a host of nieces and nephews including Nick (Sheena) Byrd, Brian Byrd, Jackson Medlock, Grant Medlock, Casey Brookbank, and her great nephew, Easton Byrd.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, William Pitmon; her mother, Gail Brotherton; her father-in-law, Virgil Porter; and her brother-in-law, Eddie Byrd.
Her radiant spirit and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Sheila's legacy of love and laughter will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
