Sheila Teig
February 28, 1942 - February 7, 2025
Sheila (Carey) Teig of Stamford, CT, passed away on February 7, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Sheila was a born and raised Bostonian, who later in life, loved reconnecting with her roots by spending summers in Cape Cod with family. Known by many as Mrs. Teig, Sheila spent most of her 40+ year career as an elementary school teacher in the Stamford public and Catholic school systems. Sheila started her career in Stamford teaching reading and the Project Explore program in the public school system. She later transitioned to Sacred Heart School, where she served on the board of the church, and then to St. Cecilia Elementary School.
Outside of work, Sheila devoted her time to philanthropy, relished the opportunity to fill her home with treasures, loved seeing live theater and musical performances, and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Bernie. She was a member of Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, Connecticut, where she was a volunteer and frequent attendee of Rabbi Cohen's seminars.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Bernie Teig, daughters, Ellen Klein (Peter Kochenburger) and Karen (Adam) Didia, and her granddaughters, Allie, Jordan, and Rachel. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill (Ruthann) Carey and Bert (Brenda) Carey, in-laws, Phyllis (Steve) Moss, Joel (Margie) Teig, Howard (Judi) Teig, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard (Marlene) Carey, sister, Arlene (Larry) Travis, and parents, Morris and Diana Carey.
Funeral services will be held on February 10, 2025, at 10:30am at Congregation Agudath Sholom, 301 Strawberry Hill Avenue in Stamford, CT. Internment will follow at Congregation Agudath Sholom Cemetery, 554 West Hill Road in Stamford, CT.
In memory of Sheila's legacy, donations may be made to the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford, CT.

Sorry to hear of Sheila´s passing. She was a lovely person always upbeat. I had last run into her walking at Cove Island. We worked together at St. Cecilia School.
