Wood Funeral Home & Crematory-East Side - AmmonSheila Louise Waldram Rich, 81, of Ammon, passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Sheila was born October 7, 1943, in Ashton, Idaho, to Marvin Alonzo Waldram and Hilda Louise Carter Waldram. She grew up and attended schools in Warm River and St. Anthony, graduating from South Fremont High School. She also attended Ricks College where she was a song leader, majorette, and performed with her sister.
On September 10, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, Lorin McKay Rich in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were just a few days from celebrating their 60th anniversary. Sheila worked tirelessly in various jobs to put her husband through college and dental school, living in Provo and then Chicago, where their daughter was born. They made their home in Idaho Falls where they started a dental practice, raising their family, adding two sons and another daughter.
Sheila was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and became a dedicated and influential teacher of all ages. She was legendary for writing and directing roadshows and organizing dozens of ward parties. But, particularly the way she served through her cooking - bringing high-end meals on her best dishes and bringing bags filled with her famous sugar cookies - made with love and tons of butter.
Sheila served as the co-director of the Miss Idaho Falls Pageant and worked many years with the Festival of Trees. She was an avid self-taught gardener and home decorator. She was especially proud when her modest home was on the Home and Garden tour. She loved reading and learning, outpacing her college-graduate children. She enjoyed watching sporting events and was a BYU sports fan. From her hair, clothes, and even penmanship, Sheila's elegance and grace was her signature.
Sheila is survived by her husband, McKay of Ammon, ID; children, Heather Rich of Ammon, ID, Ryan (Melissa) Rich of Colorado Springs, CO, and Sausha (Peter) Herget of Spanish Fork, UT; and 9 grandchildren that brought her so much joy - Lauren, Logan, Mallory, Andy, Abigail, Kai, Kate, Natalie and Bryson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, Corbin Carter Rich.
