Shelby Allen Obituary

the best mother, the best Mimi, the best friend to all, and above all, a highly favored Child of God, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, August 24, 2025, at the home of her daughter Rebecca.

She was a Godly example and beautiful pastor's wife to the love of her life, Reverend Walter D. Allen with whom she was married for 61 years. She missed him every day since his passing. They were a perfect example to all with faithful love and service to each other, and most of all to their Lord Jesus Christ.

Shelby was born in Betsy Lane, Kentucky, but lived all her life in St. Albans. Shelby attended St. Albans High School. Besides being a homemaker, she went on to work for several businesses including K-Mart, McClung and Morgans Clothing store in the office in bookkeeping, BB and T, and IGA Food Store. The greatest role for her was being a mother to her children and wife to her husband Walter. She loved and was so proud of her granddaughters. She took the role as a Pastor's wife to heart and was supportive in all ways of his ministry throughout the years. She was a role model to all with her Christian Walk, talk and prayer. She was a great prayer warrior!

Shelby is preceded in death by her loving husband, Reverend Walter D. Allen, her precious daughter, Sandra Jane, grandson, Benjamin Seton Hall, her mother, Oma Asbury, her father, Dell Asbury, her sister, Silvelva Sheets, her brothers Carmel Lee Asbury, Lindsey Asbury, and Dell Asbury Jr.

Shelby is survived by her son, Dr. Tim Allen (Alison) of Fort Worth, TX, her daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) of Hermitage, TN, two granddaughters, Abigail Rae Allen and Jesse Grace Pearson with whom she loved and cherished with all her heart, and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2025, at First Church of God, Ohio Street, South Charleston with the Reverend Jerry Medley officiating the service. Graveside service will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bartlett Nichols Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans, WV 25177 to assist with any funeral arrangements.

Yesterday

Shelby Allen my ray of sunshine . I met you November 1,2024 and from that day forward we were two peas in a pod. I enjoyed every second I was allowed to be your caregiver I would clock in and bring you a coffee with one creamer and enjoy our conversations about life and you even met my baby boy who just sat in your lap and lived on you . I´m so glad I met you and I love you always... Brittaney
